We are currently examining the influences of various maternal and childhood factors and home environment on neurocognitive outcomes in infants and young children. Data from these studies will provide significant information for later intervention studies to improve cognitive performance in young children. We have participated in several nutrition intervention studies in school-going children in collaboration with the Division of Nutrition, examining the effect of intervention on cognitive performance. Towards this, we have adapted and validated cognitive test batteries for use in school-going children. We are presently developing norms for tests of executive functions and psychosocial development in children of preschool years.
